Growing and core

Growing

Experiences make you and change you. The times you’ve lived through, the things you’ve endured and overcome — all of it shapes who you are. With age, comes wisdom, carved not only from deliberate learning but from every situation and incident life throws your way. You never stop growing. But if you were to pause and look at yourself at any point in life, you would see how the years you’ve lived have moulded you.

Life changes you, both consciously and unconsciously. By the time you begin to realise your inner transformation, the core inside your cocoon has already taken shape. From there on, it is you — and the life surrounding you — that continue to evolve that core, for better or worse.

Things like your family, the love you received or didn’t receive from your parents, the strength or frailty of the bonds around you — these elements subconsciously build you. Even when you think, “This will change me, but I won’t let it,”the very act of resisting shapes you. It might not change you completely, but something within shifts. Emotions build up quietly during those times — strength, pride, sadness, or even a quiet sense of loss.

As you begin to weave the silk of your life, at each twist and turn you’ll face choices of right and wrong. Perhaps your core has developed in such a way that you subconsciously lean towards the right. Over time, you’ll feel the strength of that core and the silk you’re spinning. Not every strand will be perfect — you may look back at some with regret or even shame. But your core will guide you to learn, to move on. And gradually, without even realising, you’ll be ready to fly. You’ll be aware of the dangers, but trust that your core is capable of facing anything. You’ll have the instinct to guide your growth in a positive direction. Even the inevitable parts of life — the things out of your control — will shape you, and with time, you’ll gain the wisdom to let them do so for better or worse.

There may be times when your core is strong, but the external environment is unfavourable. You may struggle to adapt. But if you choose to resist, you might survive and grow stronger. And if you choose not to resist, you won’t necessarily break — you may simply acclimatise and find happiness in that niche. Yet, with every shift in niche, might make you question your core. The problem isn’t with the core itself — the very fact that you’re questioning it means it is strong. Maybe it just needed more time to develop. Maybe you were too hasty to begin weaving your silk. If you take the time to reflect and try, you can rediscover your core. You can still be ready to fly — perhaps a little later than expected, but with pride in the journey that helped you strengthen your foundation.

Your core won’t always offer a smooth path. You may struggle to distinguish right from wrong. You may feel lost — tossing choices, picking randomly, or simply going with the flow. In those moments, when you can’t find trust in people or systems to guide you, seek nature for your answers. Trust time too — though it is a slow teacher, it is always reliable. The emotions that accumulate will reveal the texture and strength of your silk. You might realise the silk you spun was beautiful, but hollow. And in that realisation, you may want to change. That change may feel overwhelming — you may be trying to alter your very core — but remember: your core also holds nature, humanity, and an innate sense of righteousness. The transformation may be easier than it appears.

In the end, it all comes back to the core — what you were given, what you saw, what you felt in your cocoon. How responsible the environment was around you during your most vulnerable stages. And, of course, luck — because we are a species which had the luck to evolve.
